The item must have no visible scratches, nicks, blemishes or discoloration. Any gold plating, chrome or wood should have absolutely no pitting or discoloration. Plastic or glass finishes should look perfect.
In summary very few preowned items qualify for this rating so care should be taken before assigning a 10 rating. Lettering should be as new.
9 / 10 - Excellent Condition - perfect physical condition, light use
The item should appear as new. The item should look factory fresh. Any gold plating, chrome or wood may show some use, but no discoloration or oxidation. Any wood Speakers should be perfect except for the indentations that do not show through the veneer. Wood finishes should not show any change in color from, including uneven discoloration. Plastic or glass finishes may show very slight wear but have no visible marks. Lettering should be as new.
8 / 10 - Very Good Condition - Perfect front, 1 minor blemish on top or side of item
The item has some use but looks in perfect condition from a front view. All front edges should have no nicks.
Items may have 1 or 2 minor thin scratches (maximum 1/2" long) on the top or the sides but the front is still perfect. Chrome, gold plating, plastic should have no pitting or blemishes, but may have some discoloration in spots less than 1/4" diameter. Wood may show minor discoloration but no scratches that show through. Overall lettering sshould be as new new with one very light scratch that can only be seen close up.
7 / 10 - Good - 1 or 2 minor scratches, looks used but item is well maintained
A few minor scratches but no dents Chrome or metal may show slight pitting, but not enough to be visible without close inspection. Wood and plastic may show one or two scrathes no more than 1 inch long if looking close up but should be perfect from a distance. Overall lettering is in excellent condition with 1 or 2 light scratches.
6 / 10 - Fair - 3 to 4 minor scratches, or 1 major scratch, appears used.
Item may have one scratch over 2 inches long or a ding on the top or bottom. The item must not have any major scratches on the front although may have some blemishes around the edges. Chrome, steel and any gold plating may show obvious pitting, even from a distance. Some lettering may be worn off.
Any wood or plastic may have 3 or 4 scratches that can be seen from a distance. The wood should not have any major dents.
5 / 10 - Average - multiple scratches, including some on the front of the unit.
This item is visibly scratched and well used. The item may have a major scratch on the front and or several minor nicks. Chrome, steel or glod plating is showing some pitting and minor flaking. Wood or plastic have 2 major scratches, or more than 5 minor scratches.
4 / 10 - Below Average - Below average physical condition but works perfectly
Less than a 5 with chrome, steel or gold plating showing evidence of pitting, flaking and discoloration. Wood or plastic has a few cracks and/or deep dents.
